This
is a powerful holistic method of healing focusing on the hands and
feet by applying pressure to the areas of the feet and hands which
relate to specific parts of the body.
This method is both old and new. From ancient texts, illustrations
and artifacts we know that reflexology has its origins in China
at least 5,000 years ago; Egyptians, Indians, Japanese and tribes
in North America were also using a similar method.
Today many of the same techniques developed into the modern scientific
method called Reflexology.
The principal that joins the ancient with the modern is that there
are energy zones that run throughout the body and reflex areas in
the feet correspond with all the major organs, glands and body parts.
Dr. William Fitzgerald developed his own method of ‘Zone Therapy'
and he described in his book, published in 1917, the existence of
a system of ten longitudinal zones in the body, five on either side
of a median line in the body, each zone corresponding to the fingers
and toes. |
